Candidate for the position of Cheerleading - President

Heidi Norman

Cheerleading demands a dedication that is so much more than just dancing and looking pretty waving pom poms! I’d like to contribute to helping the sport flourish and build a welcoming and respectable reputation within the University.

It’s crucial to nurture a positive atmosphere and safe space within the society. This is what made me want to join Cheerleading in the first place;  everyone was open, friendly and I envision the team clicking like a family.

By working together and ensuring each member does their job efficiently, we can formulate a successful club, which will reflect on its spirited members.

Aspects I would adhere to given the role:

  • Making clear and not wordy to-do lists ready for each meeting- to keep the team in line with the objectives of that week or session. As well as outlining improvements to be made.

  • Set out a structured and easily accessible calendar for each month of the year, including training sessions, events, payment deadlines and socials.

  • Introduce more ways we can get stuck in with charities and organisations

  • Ensure a general smooth running of the club and addressing any issues ASAP, maintaining members are updated regularly.

Outside of university, I work at PureGym as a gym instructor. So I am well versed when speaking and teaching in public. I am very patient and believe I am good at communicating with people of all ages because of my ability to adapt to any situation I am put in. For example, in my spare time, I attend Parkruns, where I have volunteered many times in roles such as Event Directing, timekeeping, funnel managing, etc. This shows I am an avid team player and I can organise events without risk.

My ability to connect with individuals and establish trusting relationships, along with my strong communication talents, position me ready to thrive in this challenging position.

I appreciate your consideration of my application and would be extremely grateful to discuss an opportunity with you in Pearson.

Yours truly,

Heidi :)
