We’re really excited to share with you our new Society Committees for the 2025-26 Academic year!

Voted in by their members, we can’t wait to see the fantastic work they’ll do. Here’s the elected leaders, along with a little statement about what motivates them to take on these roles;

Islamic Society

Head Sister - Labeebah Husain

‘I'm excited to continue as a committee member so I can contribute to the growth of the Muslim community at LSBU and help ensure that both new and returning members feel welcomed and supported.

One of the events I’m most looking forward to organising is the ISOC Treasure Hunt - this event is always a blast and I thoroughly enjoy adding some unexpected twists and turns to make it a memorable and engaging experience for all who join’

Vice Head Sister - Asiya Majid

‘I think it's important to actively contribute to my community. I aspire to create a space where Muslims and people with various beliefs can come together to learn and enjoy themselves in a welcoming environment, and I believe ISOC provides this excellent opportunity. Having been on the committee before, I have seen the impact that ISOC's programmes have made on students and how it has enriched relationships and the overall university experience for many. I feel so blessed to be able to be part of this society as it is truly fulfilling to be a part of. I am really looking forward to helping organise and deliver some of our exciting events this year such as our treasure hunts, sisters pyjama party, and our annual Ramadan Iftar!’

Head Brother - Shah Emdad

'I chose to become a committee member of LSBU Islamic Society (LSBU ISOC) because I genuinely want to serve the society and give back as a volunteer. My goal is to help build a strong, united Muslim community on campus and ensure that Muslim students feel supported in their spiritual journey while at university. I’m especially passionate about creating a welcoming space where students can connect, grow, and feel a sense of belonging. I’m also excited to help organise events and activities that not only strengthen our community but also share the beauty and values of Islam with the wider student body in an open and positive way'

Vice Head Brother - Lewis Walker

'I am excited because the ISOC really helped me become a better person and improve myself. I feel like I’m repaying a favour by now being Vice Head. I want others to experience how I felt last year! I’m looking forward to organising the Iftar event, it takes a lot of effort and planning but it’s extremely rewarding'

Law Society

President - Mahibah Saud Ur Rahman

'Hi, my name is Mahibah Saud Ur Rahman, and I’ve always had a strong interest in law. I genuinely enjoy connecting with people, which is why hosting events and networking have become such a big part of who I am. These passions go hand-in-hand with my goals in the legal field, and I’m excited to now step into the role of president of the Law Society. I’ve got some exciting plans for the future, including more engaging events, better opportunities to connect with legal professionals, and creating a space where everyone interested in law feels welcome and supported'

Vice President - Mahir Faisal Fahim

'I, Mahir Faisal Fahim is a LLB Law student at London South Bank University (LSBU) and the newly elected Vice President of the LSBU Law Society for the 2025 - 2026 academic year. With a strong commitment to corporate  law, constitutional law, and student advocacy, I aim to enhance the society’s role in bridging academic rigor with professional development. I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive, dynamic, and resource-rich environment that empowers all law students to excel academically and professionally.'

Strategic Priorities:

As Vice President, I will work closely with the President, Committee, and Faculty to advance the following objectives:

Increase engagement within the law society.

Hosting events for academic support and enhancing CV experience.

Cultivate relationships with law firms as an initiative to strengthen industry partnership and open up future job opportunities.

Bar and Mooting Society

President - Adriana Piletto

'It is an honour to introduce myself as the new President of the Bar and Mooting Society for the upcoming academic year. My name is Adriana Piletto, and I will be entering my third year of the LLB Law degree in October.

Since a young teenager, I developed a particular passion for the criminal justice system and criminal law, and I hope to pursue a career either as a solicitor or a barrister. While I remain open to a variety of legal experiences, I’m especially committed to gaining as much practical insight into the legal profession as possible. I strongly believe in the value of broadening your horizons before deciding on a final career path.

Through my role as President, I aim to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every member feels empowered to develop their advocacy skills and build confidence in legal analysis and public speaking. I understand that that exploring new experiences, whether it’s your first moot or speaking in front of an audience, can feel daunting. I’ve been there myself, and truthfully, I can still feel that way sometimes.

My biggest piece of advice is to take every opportunity that comes your way. Especially those that can build your legal experiences to help with your career in the future. Even the experiences that feel the most outside of your comfort zone often turn out to be the most rewarding and transformative. You never know what skills you’ll develop, what passions you’ll discover, or where a single opportunity may lead.

I look forward to working with you all and making this year both inspiring and enriching. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, I am here to support your journey in any way I can'

Vice President - Ridha Shabaz

'Hi, I’m Ridha Shahbaz and I’m delighted to be your Vice President of the Bar and Mooting Society for this academic year. Mooting is one of the most fun and rewarding parts of studying law and I am excited about what we can achieve together this year. Over the past two years, I have been a committed member of the society and have taken part in many mooting competitions which has allowed me to hone my communication and advocacy skills.

As Vice President, I look forward to supporting others through their law school journey and ensuring that the society remains a space where members can develop essential legal skills, grow in confidence, and form meaningful connections.'
