At Engineers Without Borders LSBU, we are part of a global movement that is reshaping the future of engineering to ensure a safe and just world for all. Our chapter, affiliated with Engineers Without Borders UK, brings together students from every discipline who are passionate about tackling today’s greatest challenges such as the climate crisis, biodiversity loss and inequality. Through creativity, collaboration and innovation, we aim to inspire change and build a community that leads with purpose.
Who we are
We are more than a student society. We are a community of changemakers committed to embedding global responsibility into the way engineering and design are taught, practiced and lived. Whether you study engineering, science, business, the arts or any other subject, you have a role to play. Together we believe that society must balance the needs of people with the needs of the planet, and that students have the power to help drive that shift.
Our chapter exists to give LSBU students an outlet to act now, not just study theory. We want LSBU to be a pioneer in globally responsible engineering, where students use their skills and creativity to influence meaningful change.
What we do
Throughout the year, we host an exciting and diverse programme of activities that combine learning, action and community:

Workshops and Talks: Learn from experts, academics and industry leaders about sustainable engineering, climate leadership and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Design Challenges and Hackathons: Put your creativity into action by solving real world problems with a team and developing ideas that are globally responsible and locally impactful.

Community Outreach: Inspire the next generation by delivering STEM activities in local schools and engaging communities with the power of responsible engineering.

Industry Connections: Gain insights and network with professionals who are pioneering sustainable practices across the sector.

Our vision
We know that our planet is in a perilous position. Engineering has played both a positive and negative role in this story. At LSBU, our chapter is part of the tipping point where globally responsible engineering becomes the new standard. Together with Engineers Without Borders UK and the worldwide network of chapters, we are working to ensure that engineering education and practice evolves to meet the needs of all people within the limits of our planet.
Get involved
You do not need to be an engineer to join us. Everyone has a part to play. Membership is open to all LSBU students who want to use their skills, passions and creativity to make a positive impact.
