SU PRESIDENT

Name: Rahi Alam

Hi everyone, I am Rahi. I graduated from LSBU with a 1st class degree in B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering in 2024. I previously served as the VP of Welfare and Equalities at South Bank Students' Union. And now, I serve as the President at South Bank Students’ Union.

Coming from a Bengali background, my journey to LSBU was one filled with excitement and challenges. Moving to a new country and adapting to a different culture was a significant step, but the welcoming and diverse community at LSBU made it a transformative experience. Connecting with students from all over the world has not only broadened my perspectives but also enriched my personal growth.

LSBU is more than just an educational institution; it’s a place where students are encouraged to embrace new opportunities and push the boundaries of what they can achieve. I’m passionate about ensuring that every student, regardless of their background, feels supported and empowered to reach their full potential here. I’m excited to continue working towards fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can thrive and make the most of their time at LSBU.

How I got involved with the SU?

My journey with the Students' Union began during my time as an active member of both the Islamic Society and the Bangladeshi Community at LSBU. These societies were a significant part of my university experience, providing me with a sense of community and belonging. I felt the need to engage more in SU to better represent the students. So, I ran for the spring election 2024 and got elected as the Vice President of Welfare and Equalities. Then I ran for the spring election 2025 and got elected as the President.
