SU PRESIDENT
Name: Shah Emdad
Hi everyone, my name is Shah Emdad (he/him). I graduated from LSBU with a higher second class (2:1) degree in BA (Hons) Marketing with advertising and digital communications in 2026.I previously served as the VP of Education (2024-2025 academic year) at South Bank Students' Union. And now, I serve as the President at South Bank Students’ Union.
I’m originally from Sylhet, Bangladesh, a place known for its breathtaking natural beauty and expansive rivers. Like many, I dreamed of studying abroad, and getting accepted into LSBU felt like a step closer to that dream. Moving to a new country and adapting to a different culture was a big step, but the welcoming, diverse community at LSBU made it a genuinely transformative experience.
LSBU is more than an educational institution to me. It's a place where students are pushed to take on new opportunities and go further than they thought they could. I want every student here to feel supported and able to reach their potential, whatever their background, and I'm looking forward to building on that this year.
How I got involved with the SU
My journey with the Students' Union started in first year when I joined the LSBU Bangladeshi Society, and I went on to lead it as President (2023/24). In 2022 I was elected Student Trustee (Director) at South Bank Students' Union, representing students at board level. In 2024 I was elected VP of Education, and in 2025/26 I also led the LSBU Islamic Society as President. Building on that experience, I ran for President in 2026 and was elected, and I'm now proud to represent all LSBU students in this role.
