Janine Braithwaite, MSc, FHEA, PGCert serves as Chair of our Trustee Board, bringing a strong commitment to widening participation and excellence in higher education. Janine’s journey in the sector began in 2015 as a mature student at the University of West London, where she was elected Vice President of Education for two successive years, championing support for students facing financial hardship and facilitating leadership sessions for BAME women.
Her early leadership and advocacy led to several public speaking opportunities, including being the first student invited to speak at a UWL graduation ceremony. Since graduating, Janine has developed her career within higher education, focusing on student experience, retention, and academic support roles. She holds a MSc, a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Academic Practice, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), reflecting her dedication to high-quality teaching and learning.
Janine is passionate about supporting students throughout their journey within Higher Education, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. As Chair, she brings insight, energy, and a student-centred perspective to governance, helping shape strategic direction that aligns with our mission to foster inclusion, opportunity and success for all learners.
